People's Daily reports consumers' growing annoyance for commercial SMS messages.
A survey conducted randomly among selected mobile phone users indicated that 80 percent disliked such messages, 10 percent were indifferent, and only eight percent believed they provided useful information. No single stipulation in any Chinese law clearly forbids operators from sending advertisements to subscribers, and service contracts between operators and subscribers do not have any stipulations on the issue either. However, operators do frown upon the business practice.
