NetScreen Technologies, Inc. today announced that China Unicom Limited has selected NetScreen to provide firewall and security solutions for its Internet Data and Managed Services Centers.
China Unicom's Internet Data Center has selected NetScreen devices to provide managed firewall functionality for its Internet Data Center service network, which covers major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Jinan, Shenyang, Wuhan and Xian.
At the three core sites of the Internet Data Center — Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou — NetScreen-500 systems are deployed to protect and support managed firewall servers, while NetScreen-100 appliances are deployed to protect internal servers. Multiple NetScreen-100 appliances have also been installed at other sites to provide distributed firewall functionality and establish secure connections to the central site.
The NetScreen-500 systems provides robust integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) functionality — up to 700 Mbps firewall performance and 3DES VPN performance of up to 250 Mbps — and virtual systems capabilities, a technology pioneered by NetScreen to allow logical partitioning of a network into security zones with distinct configurations and policies.
