Color TV Set Exports Surge In Guangdong

Guangdong province exported more than 10 million color TV sets in the first three quarters of 2003, according to statistics from the provincial government — 2.2 times the figure for the same period last year — accounting for 47.7% of the national total for the first nine months of the year.
Guangdong also set a monthly record in September by exporting 1.88 million color TV sets with an export value of US$130 million, also a record high. The US has become the leading importer of Guangdong's color TV sets, however the province also reported more than 80% increases in its exports to Japan, Germany and Hong Kong.
