ZTE Corp., a CDMA equipment vendor in China, has received an order from Pakistan telecom operator TeleCard to upgrade its CDMA Wireless Local Loop network.

The project is expected to be completed within six months and will increase TeleCard's network capacity from 60,000 lines to 125,000 lines. The upgraded network will cover most of Pakistan's urban and rural areas. This will represent the seventh upgrade of the TeleCard CDMA network. ZTE and TeleCard signed an agreement in 2001 to construct the initial 5,000-line network. ZTE has supplied CDMA equipment for networks in approximately 20 countries, including Brazil, Algeria, Russia and Vietnam.
