NEC (China) and Netease, China's Internet portal operator, reached an agreement whereby they will collaborate in distribution of digital content to the users of ChinaMobile, China's largest mobile operator.
The new service will initially offer wallpaper images featuring characters of popular Japanese comics such as The Romance Of Three Kingdoms. NEC Interchannel is in charge of developing digital content. NEC is set to expand the content lineup to include Java-enabled games, Flash animations, and video content, aiming for mobile content sales of more than 1 billion yen ($9 mil) in 2005. Furthermore, the company will actively promote not only the mobile content business but also its IT and network solution businesses, including content distribution platform, DRM, CRM, and online settlement.
