China's SVA and Japan's NEC Join to Build LCD Panels

US$1.1 billion will be spent by NEC and SVA Group next year to start production of liquid crystal displays (LCD) for computer monitors and television screens.
NEC will own 25% of the venture and the first glass panels are expected to roll out of the factory in October 2004. Monthly production capacity is slated at 45,000 sheets of glass.
