Handset maker Wistron NeWeb said it will invest US$15 million in its China handset factory, according to a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) today.
The factory, tentatively named Wistron NeWeb (Kunshan), located in Jiangsu Province, will handle production of wireless networking, personal communications and satellite equipment.
Wistron NeWeb obtained approval from the Investment Commission of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to invest up to US$23.2 million in China. The company has so far invested US$2.7 million in China, but the investment was used for non-communications-related business.
