Open Source Development Labs, dedicated to accelerating the growth and adoption of Linux, and supported by a global consortium of Linux customers and IT industry leaders, has announced its first Chinese member: Beijing Co-Create Open Source Software Company.
Beijing Co-Create was founded by ten separate Chinese software vendors in April of 2001 to work closely with the international open source software community. Currently the company plans to focus on Linux kernel development and the promotion of the Linux desktop in China.
Estimates from the Chinese government's Beijing Software Industry Productivity Center show Linux sales in China growing at over 40% per year from $6.3 million in 2002 to $38.7 million in 2007.
