hongkong.com Corporation, the Asian Internet media, communications and interactive services company and an 81%-owned subsidiary and a mobile applications and portal unit of chinadotcom corporation, announced today the appointment of Mr. John Xiao, currently Chief Executive Officer of Newpalm (China) Information Technology Co., Ltd. (Newpalm) and Executive Director of the hongkong.com board as the CEO of hongkong.com.
Mr. Rudy Chan, currently the CEO of hongkong.com, was appointed as CEO of chinadotcom Mobile Interactive (CDC Mobile) by its parent company, chinadotcom corporation.
Since it was acquired by hongkong.com, Newpalm has made significant progress in growing its customer base and developing innovative mobile applications services and products by leveraging the online capabilities of the china.com portal. In Q2 and Q3 2003, Newpalm has made significant contributions to the company's subscriptions revenues. As of 30 September 2003, Newpalm has grown its subscription base to 5.1 million.
