Inspired by Microsoft's success with its two major pieces of software–Windows and Office–China Standard Software has formally announced its own operating system "China Standard Software Puhua Linux Desktop 1.0" and Office software "China Standard Software Puhua Office 1.0."
The company's primary goal, however, is to provide more choices for electronic government affairs and enterprise e-commerce.
China Standard Software was established in November 2003 by China Software Group, China Electronic Technology Group, and Huadong Computing Technology Research Institute, to engage in Linux development. Since its establishment, the company has been a target of public attention, not only for its large investment of CNY50 million, but for the core technology owned by each of its shareholders.
