Sun Wah (Nanjing) System Software Ltd., one of the core members of the Linux National Standards Workgroup, revealed that the Workgroup had already completed four Linux National Standards.
The four Standards are: Linux API Specification, Linux Desktop Technical Requirements, Linux Server Technical Requirement, and Linux User Interface Specification. While the Chinese government increases efforts to promote Linux as well as the Linux manufacturers, the Chinese Linux industry has been transformed from conceptual to practical development. To further widespread the use of Linux in China, the problems of compatibility between different Linux distributions, software applications and external devices must be solved.
By participating in building international Linux-related standards, the worldwide Linux communities can hear Chinese Linux community's voice. At the same time, by taking the special needs of Chinese environment into account, areas such as Chinese character set and encoding, Chinese input methods, Chinese desktop environments and APIs are standardized.
