Dell has announced that it will work with Oracle to provide Chinese consumers with a single source of information for Linux and grid computing.
It will sell two of its server models, the 2600 and 2650, with a low-end shrink-wrapped version of Oracle, Oracle Standard Edition One, which is pre-installed with either Red Hat Linux or Windows. Dell and Oracle have also extended an existing sales agreement to resell Oracle licenses in China.
Oracle is certifying Dell PowerEdge servers with Red Flag DC 4.0 and Oracle Database 10g at its China Development Centre in Beijing. Dell servers will be the first platform certified in China with Oracle Database 10g and Red Flag Linux solutions.
