Toshiba Corp plans to shift much of its notebook computer production to a factory in Hangzhou, China, around next spring to cut down costs, a Japanese business daily reported today.
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said Toshiba currently produces more than 70% of about 3.5 million notebook computers in Japan, China and the Philippines and the rest is outsourced to manufacturers in Taiwan.
