Aicent, Inc. announced today that it has signed a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Gateway Service contract with China Mobile Communications Corporation.
Under the terms of the contract, China Mobile will use the Aicent MMS Gateway Service as the central hub to interconnect with international operators, enabling China Mobile subscribers to exchange multimedia messages with friends and families serviced by other operators.
Aicent launched its commercial MMS Gateway Service in September 2003. Since then, more than 20 Asian operators have connected to Aicent for MMS interworking. Covering the majority of mobile subscribers in Asia, the Aicent MMS Gateway is one of the largest inter-operator MMS exchanges in the world.
The Aicent MMS Gateway Service provides mobile operators with a complete solution to establish global MMS interoperability. Through a single connection to the Aicent MMS Gateway, an operator's Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) establishes instant interconnections with operator partners via the existing GRX infrastructure. Along with the interconnectivity, the Aicent service ensures network compatibility, and provides number addressing resolution, secured message routing and transport, inter-operator billing mediation, and comprehensive traffic analysis report.
