China Mobile Communications Corporate Ltd. has commissioned the Siemens Information and Communication Group (Siemens mobile) to expand its mobile network in the provinces and municipalities of Anhui, Shanghai and Zhejiang.
The order is worth around 30 million euros and involves Siemens enhancing the network's capacity providing Power CPs–high-performance processors for the switching systems–and expanding the base stations. China Mobile's customers will be able to benefit from the enhanced network performance as early as June 2004. The Power CPs from Siemens enhance the performance of mobile switching systems and, in addition, prepare the network for the upgrade to 3G technology.
