China-based Lenovo is expected to launch its first notebook jointly developed with Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) in the first quarter of next year, according to sources at Taiwanese notebook makers.
The notebook, which is initially targeted for China's domestic market, will be based on Intel's Sonoma platform and feature a 14.1-inch display. The Lenovo-Foxconn deal was finalized in February this year, with Lenovo supplying the key components including CPUs, hard disks, motherboards and TFT LCDs. Foxconn will supply the magnesium alloy cases, chassis, heat dissipation modules and connectors and will also handle back-end assembly.
