China Telecom announced it has selected IBM and CSG Systems to deploy solutions within CSG's Kenan FX framework to support convergent telecommunications services for Shanghai Telecom.
IBM will serve as the systems integrator on the project and will work with CSG to implement CSG's Kenan/BP and CSG Data Mediation solutions. When deployed, the CSG solutions will support up to 10 million subscribers at Shanghai Telecom across its services, including fixed line, Little Smart Wireless City phone (a local wireless loop service), broadband (including internet cafe and LAN businesses), and advanced IP services.
The selection of IBM and CSG at Shanghai Telecom marks the second time in which China Telecom has selected the two companies to jointly provide services and billing and mediation software to support its operations. Earlier this year, IBM and CSG successfully deployed the CSG Kenan/BP and CSG Data Mediation solutions at China Telecom's Beijing Telecom in less than 5 months, providing a showcase in China for seamlessly implementing hardware and software within an operator's aggressive timeframe.
