Final Decision Made On Digital TV National Standard

China has finally decided on a Digital TV national standard. According to Mr. Liu Quan'en, leader of the Digital TV Standard Work Team, the 16:9 signal source will be adopted as the new standard and the current 4:3 will be forced out.
The new standard will come out in 2005. Reports also show that CCTV will launch a 16:9 digital TV channel by the end of the year and it is expected to be popularized across the country by 2008.
