Authorities revealed that China Netcom's Chongqing Beibei Branch in Sichuan gave kickbacks of at least CNY20000 to Lijinyashe, a residential complex in Chongqing's Beibei District, and signed an agreement with Lijinyashe for the sharing of service-related income in the hope of preventing competitors from entering the complex.
After rounds of investigations and evidence collection, Beibei's District Department of Industry and Commerce confirmed that China Netcom's behavior constituted business bribery and that China Netcom violated relevant laws.
Both China Netcom and the developer have been fined CNY100000, and the developer's CNY20000 fee acquired previously from China Netcom has been confiscated by authorities.
