Chinese telecommunication operators got together with an academic network to unveil their version of the development strategy of China's Next Generation Internet (CNGI) during a seminar on September 3.
The telecommunication operators, who include China Telecom, China Unicom, China Netcom, China Mobile and China Railcom, along with the academic network CERNET, will be responsible for establishing their own core networks and connecting them together through a special network transit center. It is hoped that by the end of 2005, 20 cities in China will be interlinked by this trial CNGI.
