China Search Engine Ads Increasingly Popular

Baidu.com, Inc. announced today that the most expensive online ad in China was generated on September 7, 2004.
Shanghai SouBu Co. purchased a text link ad on Baidu, currently the largest Chinese Internet search engine, for over US$157 (CNY1300) per character per day. The old record was held by Sina, which was US$139 (CNY1150) per character per day.
