The local media are quoting an unnamed source as saying that ICQ is entering into cooperation with Tom.com to localize instant communications software.
To date, the Chinese localization and design work have been completed, and the internal testing version is in the process of being upgraded. It is expected that the two will soon reach an agreement and announce their cooperation, assuming everything progresses smoothly.
The source has been quick to mention that this is an ordinary cooperative effort, rather than an acquisition–ICQ was already purchased by America Online.
