China Unicom Stakes CNY20 Million On Network Capacity Expansion

During a new round of competition with China Mobile and Little Smart, China Unicom has chosen to invest CNY 20 million in expanding its network capacity ¨C a field in which China Mobile has long been dominant.
According to Unicom, construction of the next phase in its CDMA network is well underway. Currently, the company's C network can support 52 million users and is expected to reach 70 million by the end 2004.
