Despite the fact that China's semi-conductor industry is bourgeoning, more and more engineers are leaving the country.
Recently, in Shanghai, more than 200 engineers left for Singapore, while another 40 went to Taiwan UNCI.
Most of the staff were previously employees at SMIC, Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation and Huahong. The primary reason for their departure is said to have been salary levels (which can be as much as five times that of in their previous companies), but others blamed a sense of "not belonging" as the cause of their leaving.
