This week phone users in Guangdong have something to celebrate: Little Smart and China Unicom users can send short messages (SMS) to each other.
Little Smart users can send short message directly to Unicom users, but for Unicom users to reply they will need to input "106" plus area code and the Little Smart number before their message can successfully reach the user.
Each outgoing message, regardless of originating telecom company, is charged at CNY0.08.
By the end of 2005, users in all Chinese provinces will be able to send messages between Little Smart and China Unicom phones.
