Over the past six years, China has adopted strict guidelines by which mobile phone manufacturers can gain access to China's lucrative industry. But now to implement its commitment to the WTO agreements, the Chinese government has decided to fully open its mobile phone manufacturing sector.
Local reports say about ten enterprises will become the first group of mobile phone manufacturers to gain licenses. So far, Huawei, Skyworth and Jinli have submitted their applications to the State Development and Reform Commission.
Changhong and Aux have completed the majority of the process already, and three Taiwan manufacturers, including BenQ, are also expected to gain approval soon.
