Guoli Telecom has brought a libel lawsuit against Beijing Fuhua Chuangxin Technologies Development Company, owner of China Finance Online, for the latter's published article called "Guoli Telecom Unexpectedly Requests To Be Dismissed" on its website.
Guoli Telecom says the incorrect news report has harmed the company's reputation.
But the defendant says, as a third party platform, it only re-publishes syndicated news of other websites and has agreements with those other websites that verify this relationship. Because China Finance Online re-publishes this news, they say they are not obligated to verify the facts in the stories they post.
The case has been accepted by Beijing's Xicheng People's Court and will be decided at a later, undefined date.
