Some Internet service providers in China including CITVC (China Internet TV Company), Baidu, Sina (SINA), Sohu (SOHU), Shanda (SNDA) and Shanghai Orient yesterday became signatories to the "Chinavnet Copyright Self-Discipline Convention" in Shanghai.
By signing the pact the businesses promise to counter "network piracy" issues and strongly support "legal content" to push the standardization of Internet services in China.
A spokesperson for Chinavnet told local media expressed that as the largest broadband content provider in the Shanghai area, Chinavnet has been committed to providing quality information to users and is aiming to build a healthy broadband industry chain.
Chinavnet has opened a 24-hour hotline at "96861" to receive information from the public about any type of potentially illegal content found online.
