Sun Zhicheng, CEO of Great Wall Computer, and Li Zhiqiang, CEO of Tsinghua Unisplendor, yesterday each separately disclosed that their respective companies have applied for mobile phone manufacturing licenses.
Unisplendor has been engaged in mobile phone development for years and has owned many patents for mobile phone image processing. Now the company feels it is ready to go into full mobile phone manufacturing, if a license is granted. Although many mobile phone brands are struggling in the heated market, it seems Unispendor is quite optimistic about its prospects.
Sun Zhicheng told local media that it is "necessary" for Great Wall Computer to apply for a mobile phone license this year because it has the requisite strong capital to back its venture. The company feels its strong technology brand will help it win consumers.
