Xie Linzhen, deputy director of the China Mobile Communications Federation, has said that the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has approved, on principle, the unification of an SMS access number for the four major telecom operators.
Local media report that the MII has tentatively decided to make either 1062 or 1066 as the unified number.
After the change is made, enterprises providing short messages only need to dial 1062 or 1066, plus their short message website's Chinese name, before they can have interactive communications with short message senders.
