Competition in the China mobile sector is fierce, and China Mobile and China Unicom are starting respective promotions this week to entice their subscribers into buying value-added services.
Until May 5, Beijing Unicom's GSM and CDMA subscribers who have more than CNY500 surplus in their service accounts are eligible to open international dialing services. Those subscribers now no longer have to pay the thousands of Renminbi in deposit.
Meanwhile, Beijing Mobile is also reminding its subscribers to learn about their payment due dates and account information via a free text message. Subscribers can order the free message by either sending the initial letters of "Ti Xing Jiao Fei", namely "TXJF", to 1258; logging into Beijing Mobile's website; dialing 1860; or going to Beijing Mobile's business halls.
