21red.com, an online original Chinese literature provider, is seeking compensation in court over alleged copyright violations by book.lenovo.net, an affiliate of the Lenovo Group.
21red says Lenovo had republished twelve novels of ten writers–totally 2 million words–from its website. 21red also says those novels were then made available for download by users on Lenovo's website.
21red seeks CNY177600 from Lenovo as compensation, but local media report that representatives from book.lenovo.net say they never intentionally violated 21red's copyright. Lenovo says that 21red is deliberately using this case to market itself to potential online users.
The case will be processed by the court on June 16.
