Lou Qinjian, vice minister of the Ministry of Information Industry, disclosed during the 9th China International Software Exposition 2005 that China's domestically-made operating systems accounted for more than 25% of the total government software procurement for operating systems in 2004.
Office software occupied about 60% and network security software reached 97%.
The total output value of the software industry increased from CNY59.3 billion in 2000 to CNY230 billion in 2004.
The Chinese domestic software industry is growing rapidly and the country's software products are winning increasing trust and acknowledgement from China's users. Chinese companies are increasingly focused on Linux desktop development, and they are working with companies in Japan and South Korea to devise new applications.
