Microsoft (MSFT) has joined with Xiamen-based Amoi Electronics to pre-install Microsoft Windows XP in all of Amoi's notebook computers.
Amoi is the first Chinese computer manufacturer to deal with Microsoft on this level. The company also plans to use Microsoft Windows CE and Pocket PC operating systems for its smart phones. Amoi says these devices will support Microsoft's WMV and WMA multimedia file formats.
Both sides refused to disclose financial information about the deal.
