China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has released a statute banning foreign capital in local Chinese television and radio stations.
The statute, called "Regulations on Foreign Affairs Work Management at Local Radio, Film and Television Organizations", states that all local radio and television stations must not rent channel frequencies to overseas organizations and they must not arrange JV channels with foreign entities.
This new rule also includes organizing live programs, like sports competitions, together with overseas institutions. It says all foreign affairs activities at local TV and radio stations should be arranged and managed by provincial-level administrative departments.
