A fourth group of mobile phone applications has been preliminarily approved by the State Development and Reform Commission.
Eight enterprises including Amoi, Kunda, LG, Changhong, Jinpeng, Bubugao and Wanlida are expected to be issued a mobile phone license soon. All but one of the companies have applied for GSM licenses. Amoi has applied for a CDMA license.
Domestic news agencies report that the above companies have passed the on-site examinations and all the companies have the necessary amount of investment, equipment and human resources.
After a joint review by the High-tech Division, Planning Division and Investment Division of the State Development and Reform Commission, the final results will be published by the Ministry of Information Industry. This should occur in the next few weeks.
