A Beijing court on Friday opened the first case against Baidu.com (BIDU) since the company did its initial public offering in New York last month.
8848, one of China's earliest e-commerce websites, has accused Baidu of attacking its server and making 8848 unoperable for 26 hours. 8848 is seeking CNY15 million compensation.
8848 states in its petition that Baidu used Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks and attacked its server through Baidu's affiliate websites.
8848 asks Baidu to immediately stop the unfair competition, make a public apology and pay the compensation.
There has been no comment from Baidu about this lawsuit, and it is unclear when the court will finally make a decision.
