The Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has announced that starting October 1, 2005, the government will allow the six major telecom operators to decide services pricing by themselves.
MII will only control the upper limit of certain telecom costs, including the fees for domestic long distance calls; international calls and calls to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; mobile roaming fees; and local fixed phone fees.
In order to prevent poor competitive practices, the government will also monitor the lower limits of the calling fees.
