The Shanghai Science and Technology Commission has initiated three RFID sample projects in the field of dangerous goods management, animal food safety management and medical logistics management.
The projects plan to realize real time and dynamic monitoring in those respective sectors.
RFID tags will be placed on bottles and cans that contain combustible, explosive and poisonous chemical products to help eliminate possible hidden troubles. At present, more than 200,000 such bottles and containers in the city have been fixed with the tag.
In addition, RFID will be used on poultry products to warn of possible problems. By the end of 2006, RFID tags will be issued to all vehicles delivering pork or other poultry products to Shanghai and the tags will also be put on locally raised pigs to monitor their process and movement.
