The Chinese website of global chip giant Intel (INTC) has been closed down because the company has not registered the website on time with the Ministry of Information Industry (MII).
China's website registration service provider net.cn says that Intel has delayed in submitting relevant documents for the registration for about six months, as a result, its website access in China has been cut off.
According to the "Non-operation Internet Information Service Registration Management Measure" issued by MII, Intel may face up to a CNY10000 fine for the late registration and the concerned website may be sealed permanently if it fails to fulfill relevant procedures within one week of the closure date.
Intel has registered two domain names in China. One of them has been connected to the official website of Intel in China, and the other to Intel's headquarters in the US.
So far, Intel's PR Department has not made much comment on their Chinese website being closed down, but they say that users can still visit the official website of the company as usual when they input www.intel.com/cn.
