Unicom Newspace Gets CNY80 Million Injection

China Unicom (CHU) has injected CNY80 million to its subsidiary Unicom Newspace for operations in 2006.
China Unicom has also shuffled the top management team of Unicom Newspace.
According to an insider from China Unicom, Tong Xiaoyu, general manager of China Unicom's Value-Added Service Department, has gone to take the place of Song Xiaobing, former president and general manager of Unicom Newspace, as the president of Unicom Newspace. Zhang Haibo from Xichuan Unicom will work as the general manager of the company.
In addition, Meng Xiangsen and Dunhuang, who are respectively director and COO of China Unicom's Value-Added Service Department have been assigned to take the positions of deputy general managers at Unicom Newspace.
Unicom Newspace is a wholly-owned company of China Unicom that previously was engaged in satellite communication services. After the adjustment, Unicom Space will specialize in developing value-added services based on mobile phones.
