China's Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS) has been examined and approved by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and has been formally submitted to the Standardization Administration of China for release. It is expected to soon become a national standard.
The AVS alliance members, including Huawei, ZTE, TCL, Skyworth and Shenzhen Hongjing Microelectronics, have unanimously agreed that Shenzhen has a good environment for developing digital audio and video technology and they plan to arrange their headquarters in that southern city.
Gao Wen, head of ACS Work Team, says that setting up a core audio and video technology base in Shenzhen will not only benefit Shenzhen's AVS industry, but also be helpful in maintaining the industry's overall sustainable development.
