China's Electronic Industry Revenue Rises, But Profit Declines

A report on the performance of China's top 100 electronic enterprises stretching from January 2005 to November 2005 has just been released by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII).
The report shows that the total business revenue of China's top 100 electronic enterprises reached CNY812.67 billion in the period, an increase of 16% compared with the same period of the previous year, while the profit was only CNY15.71 billion and declined by 42%.
According to the report, the profit of the communications manufacturing industry dropped by as much as 37%. And most of the mobile phone makers suffered losses.
MII warned that electronic product manufacturers should improve their technological levels, enlarge research and development and upgrade their innovation capacity in order to meet their fiercer global competition.
