Gome, Suning, Dazhong and Yongle, China's four major appliance retailers, have stopped selling the five types of Sony televisions that were reported to have a software timing errors.
The retail chains are in consultation with Sony for further solutions to the problem.
Representatives from the four say that they will not resume selling the concerned products until the problem is solved, but the detailed schedule will depend on the response from consumers.
Sony China has denied that the sales of any Sony products have been halted, saying that they have just been replaced with quality goods of similar type.
Sony has already agreed to provide free upgrades of the television software for consumers who already purchased the TVs, but it has not promised any compensation.
