Shanghai Implements RFID For Hazardous Chemicals

    In order to ensure the safety of its citizens, the Shanghai Municipal Government is fixing e-tags on 1 million bottles that contain harmful chemicals this year.

    The project is being worked on jointly by the Shanghai Municipal Safety Production Supervision and Management Bureau, the Shanghai Quality Control Bureau, the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission as well as technology enterprises of the city.

    So far, 200,000 bottles that contain liquid chlorine and acetylene have been fixed with the e-tags.

    Apart from the steel containers and the oxygen bottles used in public places, the liquid petroleum gas (LPG) containers at citizens' home will also be included in the list.
