A number of Chinese enterprises have promised to fight software piracy and to respect and to protect software intellectual property rights by only using legally-made software.
The companies who have signed the joint statement include China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), China Construction Bank, China Telecom and Lenovo.
Through the effort of the State Copyright Administration, all provincial governments in China started using only legal software in 2004. The rule was further extended to the local government and enterprises in 2005.
