Eleven Chinese network operators, including China Netcom which owns 80% of the network access market in Beijing, have signed a service commitment to build a unified filtering system to stop the spread of Internet pornographic information.
The eleven operators are China Netcom Beijing Branch, Beijing Mobile, China Unicom Beijing Branch, Beijing Telecom Co, China Tietong Beijing Branch, Beijing Gehua Cable TV Network, Beijing Telecom Communication, Fiberlink Communications, Beijing Founder Broadband Network Co, Great Wall Broadband Network Service Beijing Branch and Capital Information Development Holdings.
Under their commitment called the "Beijing Internet Broadband Access Enterprises Service Commitment," the parties will not only combine funds for stemming the flow of online porn, but also combine their information about the sources of illegal websites.
They have already begun to integrate their previously collected information in order to build a unified information database that can be shared among all of them.
