Chen Wei from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has disclosed that China is pressing on making an RFID national standard to serve the forecasted CNY5.97 billion market for this year.
The main reason that China's RFID has not come out yet is said to be because of the conflict among concerned parties within China. The chaos in China's RFID market as a result of confrontation among the three major international RFID standards–ISO/IEC18000, EPCGlobal and UbiquitousID–also contributes to the delay in the creation of China's own standard.
According to Chen, RFID research and application is not evenly spread in China, and the majority of research and application is concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Bay areas.
