Starting this month, Shandong Province says it will concentrate on cleaning up the content on websites registered within the province.
There are over 60000 registered websites in Shandong Province. Of those, a provincial representative tells local media that more than 300 are business oriented.
Most of the online forums on these websites have not been approved by the government, and starting April 21, the e-bulletin services of all websites will be monitored for illegal content. In addition, all future online forums and BBS services will need to register with local authorities in Shandong.
