Beijing's Haidian District, home to many of China's top technology companies and universities, is initiating an environmental recycling project and has licensed the first batch of four test sites.
The project is called "Electronic Environmental Protection and Recycling Economy", and the four sites are located at Zhongguancun Repair City, BUAA Business Incubator, Yuga International Resources Cyclic Utilization Company and Red Tree Company.
Each of the four will manage different tasks in the processing and recycling of goods.
Zhongguancun Repair City will be the site for electronic waste drop-offs. BUAA is responsible for dismantling and processing the waste, particularly electrical panels. Yuga is in charge of processing the plastic packaging and Red Tree will handle other waste like the used batteries.
